well any idea who amoung you will be taking part in the upcoming world history forming…???
I am working on Africa. Uploaded a map today, as well as South America. I have added some more timeline differences that explain a bit about the situation in Africa and why it is different.
Zak said that he was thinking about some military/econ rules and maybe European thoughts. But I have not heard from him in a few days so he must be busy with the other games.
Right now this is just a concept and I am not even sure other players would want to play it. Most are busy with the other games.
Reporting for duty. I had a look at the site and it is looking good. Not much I can add to it. I love the concept of having a Wiki site where the players can add information about their nations, rulers, history, etc. Even though I really shouldn't, the way things are looking, I'll most likely join up.
I also like what you wrote about the economic rules. Trade concessions and the like are fun things to include in a game, especially in a game set in this timeline as it allows players to flex their muscles and fight over things other then land or cash.
One question I have is about the alternative histories: Is there going to be room for GM-approved player input? It might, for example, be interesting to have the players make some (realistic) changes to their starting countries.
Well, this is still in development so it would be a while before it starts. I am working on researching and loading info into a MySQL database. I would not want to start until I am sure that it is developed where I can keep it going. I may want to a do a beta test with just a few players that maybe runs three or four months.
Right now I am working on maps and getting all the nations, rulers, relations etc. into the database. I have rulers for all the current nations and will get those on here soon.
I am interested in input from others. Yes, it is a wiki site and I would hope that players would help develop. Part of the point is developing the world. Everything is up for discussion. I am making up a lot of history as I go and I am doing it pretty quick so it may not be the best, may not be logical, and I am open to suggestions or other neat stuff. There are a lot of histories.
For instance, I need quantity at the moment so I have found leaders of all these countries and assigned them. Some of them are just whoever I could find. If you can find more reasonable ones thats cool. I did find that Herman Goring's father was colonial administrator in SW Africa. So he is the leader there which I thought was interesting.
Interesting. If there is anything you need help with, just let me know. I am kind of bussy these weeks, but starting February, I should be able to do some researching, especially South America would be easy for me to research.
I am going to update the leaders and a little bit of histories as I get time. Most of my history thinking has been with North America and a bit on Africa. I have not done much thinking on South America, Europe, or Asia. I am going to start developing maps for those when I get time, but just because something is on maps, or the pages, does not mean that its not a candidate for being changed if something better is thought up.
Yep i beleive if a player has a good idea or add-on's and makes for a faster and perhaps a bit better then the Gm will consider adding it to the rules or at least to take it into account…
with a totaly new timeline to follow perhaps the players will not start with a auto-mindset as sometimes happens with certain nations….
I believe we can easily gather up 10 good players between us. With how many players do you wish to start? Also: I passed this site on to a friend of mine, but for some reason, he could not sign up as the site kept asking him for a secret password. Is this website invitation only (I have a bit of a shaky memory and can't remember how I joined myself…)
Cheers,
Danny
